Butterfly

Os presento mi nueva creación. Se trata de un trabajo encargado por una amiga. Ella quería una mariposa y yo he hecho lo que he podido. He intentado huir de los colores más básicos y me decantado por un azul oscuro con toques dorados y amarillos. He introducido la posibilidad de plegar las alas, así que las he decorado un poco en la parte inferior. Espero que os guste.

Here is my new creation. It is a job commissioned by a friend. She wanted a butterfly and I did what I could. I tried to run away from the most basic colors and opted for a dark blue with golden and yellow touches. I have introduced the possibility of folding the wings, so I decorated them a bit on the bottom. I hope you like it.

Snowball II

Siempre será un misterio por qué las mascotas de los Simpsons no huyen y buscan un hogar mejor. También es un misterio por qué Homer no se los ha comido en uno de sus ataques de hambre. Grubaluk hace un fantástico trabajo en esta recreación del gato de la familia. Ha capturado el personaje perfectamente.

It will always be a mystery why Simpsons’ pets do not run away and look for a better home. It is also a mystery why Homer has not eaten them in one of his attacks of hunger. Grubaluk does a fantastic job in this recreation of the family cat. He has captured the character perfectly.

Gypsies

Las carretas de los gitanos han sido siempre una constante en las películas y series sobre circos o ferias, siendo su supuesta capacidad para adivinar el futuro su principal atracción. Letranger Absurde ha realizado un fantástico trabajo con estas dos carretas de diferente estilo pero igual maestría.

The wagon of the gypsies have always been a constant in the films and series about circuses or fairs, being their supposed ability to guess the future their main attraction. Letranger Absurde has done a fantastic job with these two wagon of different style but equal mastery.

Very big CAT

A veces uno se queda sin palabras. Cuando he visto este fantástico modelo, su escala, su tamaño y su nivel de detalle, y me he parado a pensar el trabajo detrás de él, me he quedado sin palabras. Es difícil de imaginar que existe maquinaria de este tamaño, pero por mis estudios visité minas a cielo abierto donde estos monstruos y otros parecidos trabajan día tras día, y si, son así de grandes comparados con los técnicos que las manejan. Arjan Oude Kotte realiza aquí toda una exhibición de maestría con este monstruo de la tecnología.

Sometimes one is left speechless. When I have seen this fantastic model, its scale, its size and its level of detail, and I have started to think about the work behind it, I have run out of words. It is difficult to imagine that there is machinery of this size, but through my studies I visited open pit mines where these monsters and other similar work day after day, and yes, they are that big compared to the technicians who handle them. Arjan Oude Kotte performs here a whole exhibition of mastery with this monster of technology.

LL112 HARBINGER

Que no sea septiembre no quiere decir que no se puedan construir grandes naves espaciales. Si además están llenas de calidad y detalles, tiene unos colores originales y aspecto de ser muy muy peligrosa, no podemos perder la oportunidad de enseñarla aquí. Un fantástico trabajo de ZCerberus.

Moog Sub Phatty

Las incursiones de LEGO en el mundo del sonido no son muchas (algún ladrillo con sonido, los ladrillos inteligentes de las líneas de robótica,...). Sin embargo, viendo los instrumentos musicales que algunos creadores recrean con sus ladrillos, desearíamos poder oírlos de verdad. Este Moog creado por Quy Chao parece construido para ser tocado. Y además viene magníficamente acompañado.

The incursions of LEGO in the world of sound are not many (some brick with sound, the smart bricks of the robotics lines, ...). However, seeing the musical instruments that some creators recreate with their bricks, make you wish you could really hear them. This Moog created by Quy Chao seems built to be played. And in addition it comes magnificently accompanied.

Classic Space Hangar

A estas alturas la mayoría sabréis que soy fan de Classic Space, y cuando he visto este hangar Classic Space por Jon Blackford solo he podido caer enamorado de cada uno de sus detalles. Cuando sea mucho mucho mejor constructor seré capaz de hacer algo parecido..., espero.

By now, most of you will know that I am a Classic Space fan, and when I saw this Classic Space hangar by Jon Blackford I could only fall in love with each of its details. When I get to be a much much better constructor I will be able to do something similar ..., I hope.

Master Oogway

Conseguir con LEGO que una construcción parezca esponjosa puede sonar a algo poco probable, por no decir imposible. Sin embargo engañar a la mente es posible, haciendo que ciertas formas y volúmenes recuerden al cerebro visualmente el efecto que queremos conseguir. Estoy seguro que en este paisaje por Anthony Wilson, esas nubes no son blanditas y esponjosas, pero mi cerebro no para de decirme que si lo son. El maestro Oogway seguro que se encuentra muy feliz junto a su árbol rodeado de tanta calma. Bonito trabajo.

Making a LEGO construction look spongy may sound unlikely, if not impossible. However, deceiving the mind is possible, making certain forms and volumes remind the brain visually of the effect we want to achieve. I'm sure that in this landscape by Anthony Wilson, those clouds are not soft and fluffy, but my brain keeps telling me that they really are. Master Oogway is very happy under his tree and surrounded by so much calm. Nice work.

Little Red Panda

Hace tiempo que abandoné la construcción de una serie de pequeños animales que ahora decoran una de mis estanterías. Sin embargo, por petición de mi amadisima esposa, he vuelto a retomar aquel viejo esquema para construirle una adorable criatura, un panda rojo.

Some time ago I abandoned the construction of a series of small animals that now decorate one of my shelves. However, at the request of my dearest wife, I have returned to that old scheme to build an adorable creature, a red panda.

Rorschach

Uno de los protagonistas del cómic de culto Watchmen es Rorschach. Con una visión muy clara del bien y del mal, sin lugar para puntos intermedios. Su característica más conocida es su máscara, cubierta de una especie de fluido que cambia adoptando las formas de las famosas formas del test psicológico de Rorschach. Quien no haya leído el cómic, o al menos haya visto la película, le recomiendo que lo haga. Timofey_tkachev nos presenta una versión impresionante del personaje. Sin palabras.

One of the protagonists of the cult comic Watchmen is Rorschach. He has a very clear vision of good and evil, with no place for intermediate points. Its most famous characteristic is its mask, covered with a kind of fluid that changes adopting the forms of the famous psychological test of Rorschach. Walker

Cuando se trata de AT-ATs los aficionados siempre han reclamado una versión UCS a verdadera escala minifig, y la red está llena de increíbles versiones intentando siempre mejorar las versiones de los sets oficiales. Sin embargo esta versión por Tim Goddard es a una escala menor y resulta asombroso el nivel de detalle que ha conseguido. El panelado, las patas,..., todo parece fluir hasta dar como resultado una fantástica versión del famoso caminante de Hoth.

When it comes to AT-ATs models, fans have always claimed a UCS version on a real minifig scale, and the network is full of incredible versions always trying to improve the versions of the official sets. However, this version by Tim Goddard is on a smaller scale and it is amazing how much detail he has achieved. The paneling, the legs, ... everything seems to flow until it results in a fantastic version of the famous Hoth walker.

Cuckoo Clock

Cuando tienes que echar un segundo vistazo a una foto para asegurarte de que es una creación hecha con ladrillos LEGO, sin duda estás ante algo especial. Eso me ha pasado con este reloj de cuco de Sven Franic. Normalmente en los anuncios, los relojes marcan la 1:50 horas para que las manecillas formen una preciosa “V”, en este caso marca la 1:58, si queréis saber por qué tendréis que leer la historia de la foto.

When you have to take a second look at a photo to make sure it is a creation made with LEGO bricks, you are certainly looking at something special. That has happened to me with this cuckoo clock by Sven Franic. Kriegskrabbe

He de decir que aunque he intentado construir robots mecánicos (“Mechas”) un par de veces, siempre me ha llamado la atención la capacidad que parecen tener los genios de esta disciplina para construir articulaciones que parecen imposibles, y para proporcionarles un aspecto y proporciones perfectas. Este cangrejo de guerra por GolPlaysWithLego es un claro ejemplo de que el tamaño no es importante. Aunque de tamaño medio contiene todo lo necesario para enfrentarse a sus hermanos mayores y además el diseño de su cabina es extraordinario.

I have to say that although I have tried to build mechanical robots ("Mechas") a couple of times, I have always been struck by the ability of the geniuses of this discipline to build joints that seem impossible, and to provide them with a perfect aspect and proportions. This crab war by GolPlaysWithLego is a clear example that size is not important. Although of average size it contains everything necessary to face his bigger brothers and also the design of its cabin is extraordinary.

Nurmes Shipyard

Una de las competiciones más conocidas que puedes encontrar dentro de nuestro mundillo es Colossal Castle Contest. Tiene diversas categorías, pero todas ellas relacionadas con la temática Castle, y los trabajos que se presentan son de una calidad increíble. Este fantástico astillero por Andrew JN es una maravilla visual, con todos esos ángulos y soluciones constructivas que le dan un aire totalmente realista.

One of the best known competitions you can find within our world is the Colossal Castle Contest. It has various categories, but all of them related to the Castle theme, and the works presented are of incredible quality. This fantastic shipyard by Andrew JN is a visual wonder, with all those angles and constructive solutions that give it a totally realistic look.

Exploding brickheadz

Por fin alguien le ha dado su merecido a los omnipresentes Brickheadz... ¿Cómo que no? Ah, ya entiendo. Rectifico, se trata de una recreación de la película Scanners(1981). Una pena. Aún así me puedo imaginar los dolores de cabeza que le ha costado a Josephine Monterosso colocar todos esos pedacitos de cabeza explotando.

Finally someone has given the ubiquitous Brickheadz his due ... Sorry? Are you sure? Oh, I see. , It is a recreation from the movie Scanners (1981). It’s a shame. Still I can imagine the headaches that putting all those bits of head exploding has cost to Josephine Monterosso. Really good job.
